Copper Soaking Tub Turns the Bath into a Luxurious Retreat
May. 7, 2015 Product News

A long, hot bath is a remedy for everyday stress – and the freestanding Caledonia soaking tub by Thompson turns the bath into a luxurious retreat. The double-walled construction helps maintain water temperature while the lifetime finish ensures that the antique copper look will be preserved for years to come.

Alejandra Ochoa de Thompson, the founder and creative director of Thompson, grew up near the renowned copper-crafting region of Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico, where generations of coppersmiths have used time-honored, metal-crafting techniques for centuries. Traditions of her native Mexico inspire many of Alejandra’s creations, including copper tubs, which are found in many Mexican homes.

Thompson personally guides the creation of its pure copper pieces at the company-owned facility in Santa Clara del Cobre. The Caledonia soaking tub features a simple oval design accented by the distinctive dimpling that characterizes a hand-hammered piece. The lifetime finish prevents the naturally occurring patina that changes copper’s appearance over time.
