Alejandra Ochoa de Thompson, founder and creative visionary of Thompson, emigrated to the United States from Mexico at the age of 22. Together with her childhood sweetheart Clifford, they built a family and career in the United States. While Alejandra began her career in design by creating award-winning spaces for major department stores and hotels worldwide, her beloved Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico was never far from her heart.

Alejandra always knew her career in commercial design was not meant to be her life’s work. Every visit to Mexico reignited her love of the region’s copper arts and moved her closer to the goal of bringing the authentic beauty and craftsmanship of Santa Clara del Cobre to American homes. Alejandra’s dream became a reality nearly three decades ago when she took the bold step of launching Thompson.

As the unique copper sinks started to build momentum, they caught the eyes of national retailers at the International Builders Show. Soon,  Thompson products could be found in Home Depot Design Centers around the country. Several years later, Thompson added retail and merchandising leadership by bringing hiring Thomasville Furniture CEO, Fred Star to help transform the brand.

Today, our family business now features a diverse and growing portfolio of designs for the kitchen, bath, and home including sinks, vanities, range hoods, tubs, accessories, and nearly unlimited custom manufacturing capabilities.
