William Cook Joins Thompson as Director of Communications

William Cook, an advertising and public relations professional with more than a decade of experience in building product marketing, is proud to join Thompson as the brand’s Director of Communications. In this newly created role, “Bill” will assist in the development and execution of the company’s strategic communications initiatives, delivering a tailored brand experience to an expanded group of interior designers, specifiers, and consumers throughout the United States and Canada.

Bill spent more than a decade in the advertising and public relations agency world prior to joining Thompson, including nine years at Stoner Bunting Advertising where he developed and executed marketing, advertising, publication relations, social media, and strategic communication initiatives for a wide range of building product clients. He was a regular at kitchen and bath trade shows, and regularly planned client events surrounding major industry gatherings.

No stranger to our business, Bill spent more than four years working alongside the Thompson family on the agency side before moving in-house with the company. His expertise and dedication to the brand will help Thompson grow its presence in the industry as it completes a year-long strategic rebrand in celebration of its 20th year in business.

In addition to his work in the industry, Bill is a professor of advertising and public relations at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He teaches a variety of undergraduate courses, including Advertising & Globalization, Brand Research & Strategy, Advanced Writing for Academic & Professional Communication, Copywriting for Print & Web, and more at his alma mater. He graduated from Temple in 2010 with degrees in Advertising, Business and German Language Studies. He is also a 2014 graduate from Penn State University, where he earned his M.A. in Communications and Media Studies.

Bill lives in Lancaster, PA with his husband Tony. In their free time they enjoy cooking, traveling with friends, wine tasting, interior design, antiquing, and spending time with their families. They are active in the community and volunteer with several non-profits and community organizations in Central Pennsylvania.
