Aging Gracefully with Copper: The Beauty of Copper Sinks by Thompson
Mar. 29, 2016 Product News

Copper sinks grow in beauty with age, maintaining their distinct finish or developing a rich patina over time. It’s what makes each Thompson sink unique. Nurturing copper’s natural beauty is low maintenance, and with care, sinks can last for generations.

General rules apply across all Thompson’ sinks: Wash with soap and water, using a soft cloth or sponge. Wipe off the surface to remove standing water, tooth paste and acidic substances, like lemon, lime or tomato juice, which tend to leave shiny spots. For extra protection use a high quality carnauba wax (with no polishing agent). Avoid any abrasive substances, harsh chemicals and bleach.

Fired Copper, Antique Copper and Black Copper Finishes
Each will patina. A high quality carnauba wax (with no polishing agent) will protect and slow the patina, if desired. Any spotting caused by normal usage will eventually fade and match the patina.

Black Nickel, Antique Satin Gold, Multi-Colored Finishes
Finishes will not change or patina. A high quality carnauba wax (with no polishing agent) will protect the finish.

Polished Copper Finish
Finish will patina. If the patina grows to dark, a copper polish, followed by re-waxing, will restore the sink’s shiny finish. A high quality carnauba wax (with no polishing agent) will protect and slow the patina, if desired.
